The next day Sunday 19th in the morning Charlie was re joined by some of the group and was heading back to Bugibba Square, which had been decorated by his daughter Amy and the rest of the family with pink balloons early that morning.
The group arrived at approx 11 am accompanied by local MP Censu Galea and The Mayor of St Paul’s Bay.
During this strenuous walk which took Charlie and company all over Malta, boxer Joseph Apap gave his support and that shows that these men although they seem tough and macho have a heart of gold.
Also thanks to the mystery woman who joined in from Bugibba to Msida.
Thankyou goes primarily to Charlie and ALL those who supported him in one way or another, and for choosing Action for Breast Cancer Foundation to be the sole beneficiary of this noble act of altruism. We thank your friend Doris Grima who was the inspiration of this event that saw its inception last year.
The final sum collected through this tremendous effort was a phenomenal € 2930
A thank you lunch was given to Charlie and all his collaborators at the Blue Creek, Ghar Lapsi.
25th October 2008 Pink Day Valletta ’08
Our second Pink Day in Valletta was another event that offered Action for Breast Cancer Foundation the opportunity to meet members and the general public men and women alike. We were honored by the stopover of Astrid Vella from “Flimkien ghal Ambjent Ahjar”, M’Angela Formosa from Soroptimist International, Valletta councilors and of course Charlie Cardona and his family. Petitions continued to fill in pages after pages and now we have over 3000 signatures. Pink Day was possible by the unfailing support of Jesper’s Danish Bakery, San Michel, Valletta Mayor Dr Alexei Dingli, Marica Beck and Gino Schiavone of MEHFA who did an interesting work out using the innovative toning tube.
